DirectX 9 not registering.
Alright, a couple months ago I made a thread which asked people why Guild Wars wasn't registering DirectX 9 in-game (F11, tells you at bottom). I had DX9 installed on my computer, however, and somebody told me my video card most likely wasn't compatible with DX9.
I just recently upgraded my video card, it is now ATI Radeon 9800 (as far as I know) which, although new for me, is still not the most up-to-date video card. But I bought it off a friend for cheap, so I could care less.
Anyway.
This card is completely compatible with DX9, yet, Guild Wars still refuses to acknowledge that I have DX9 installed on my computer, and continues to use DX8.
I heard something that maybe it's my motherboard?
I'm not a computer wizz, so, forgive me if that sounds stupid?
Basically I'm just wondering if there's any way I can get GW to register DX9.
Could it be that, when I installed GW originally, I still had the card that was only compatible with DX9? And therefore it is still registered in-game that way due to the fact that I installed it as such? Or ... is it a completely different problem?
Help would be greatly appreciated, cheers.

You don't have the -dx8 command line parameter in your shortcut for Guild Wars do you?

Remove that parameter and your Guild Wars will run on DirectX 9 again. :P

Awsome. Thanks!
You wouldn't happen to know what causes the character creation glitch as well would you? To save me posting a second thread on the matter.
I posted one the other day and nobody replied.
Basically every time I go to make a character and pick a gender, the pictures are all glitched out. I KNOW I've seen an article or a post on this, but I can't for the life of me remember where.

Ah well.
I suppose there IS no way to fix it, besides uninstalling. But I really don't feel like having to download a crapload of updates again.
Meh.
Cheers.

DXDiag does not test everything required for GW to run in DX9 (even my old laptop with a 4MB ATI Rage Mobility passed the DXDiag DX9 test...)
Which graphics card do you have? I think you need at least a GeForce 5xxx or Radeon 9xxx (but not 9000-9200) to use DX9.

My computer isn't registering directx 9 either. I found out it was because I had a GeForece MX card. The thing is, I do have an ATI (One of those All in Wonder deals) card installed as well, and i used to have no problems enabling post-process effects in the graphics menu. Now I can not. Basically I am just annoyed that I can't see the effects of being drunk in game anymore. I used to be able to, and I don't understand how one day it works fine, the next it doesn't.
